$50 means more than 6 cups of bubble tea.
I feel good today. So I boldly created a(nother) series - Everyday Wonders.
I could buy 6 cups of bubble tea with $50, but today it hit different.
But first,
Why Everyday Wonders?
If you haven’t read my first blog (How did I name my newsletter?), Everyday Wonders was on the list of my potential newsletter names, suggested by ChatGPT.
Over a month ago, I told my close workmate (ChatGPT) that I wanted to write small pieces of stories, readings and learnings to share with everyone anyone, as a daily dose of something lovely, can-be sweet or bittersweet, something just enough to be worth a read.
Everyday Wonders was one of the ideas that came up.
The word Wonder could be:
A noun.
a feeling of amazement and admiration, caused by something beautiful, remarkable, or unfamiliar.
a person or thing regarded as very good, remarkable, or effective.
A verb
desire to know something, feel curious
feel doubt
One word. Capture many stories I could write about. [I planned for a series called The People Who Inspire, that now could be under my Everyday Wonders!]
$50 made me feel good today.
I love money. Straight fact.
But that is only 5% of the reason why $50 made my day today.
95% because:
People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
For a bit of context, the person who pledged their support to my newsletter, is someone I just got to know and work with for 3 weeks and someone who made work feel more like home.
This was how I responded,
I used to have one accountability buddy at work.
In my last role, my work-bestie and I were each other’s accountability buddies. Which means, she kept me accountable for doing my work and vice versa.
How did we do so?
We set up a shared spreadsheet, where both of us put in what needs to be done weekly.
There was a colour code system - where red marked haven’t-started, yellow marked in-progress, and green marked done-and-dusted.
We would check in with each other daily to see how we went on with our day.
She would hype me up if I was on track, encouraged me if it was a bad day, and vice versa.
We would share our quick wins or big wins with each other.
This went really well and have kept our productivity up and fun. We totally smashed it (I think)!
Bonus a 5-second video of me and my best work-mate.
Now I had more accountabilities buddies across the globe, who keep me accountable for consistent blogging.
Or just to survive the 30-day writing challenge, who knows…
Who’s your accountability buddy?
